Principles & Targets
Our guiding principles are to show full respect in all our interactions, keep communities informed and make a difference wherever we work. We achieve this by:
- Providing a dedicated team whose prime focus is community engagement: This ensures that community aims and objectives are given the priority that they require.
- Putting communities first and keeping them at the heart of every scheme: Because local people are experts on the issues in their area, we proactively inform, encourage and facilitate their meaningful participation in our developments in order to harness this useful resource and ensure projects are successfully integrated into the community.
- Encouraging collaboration and partnerships to maximise resources: Partnership working is integral to our approach to construction, as we firmly believe that by working together with agencies, community groups, government bodies, NGOs and individuals we are able to maximise the resources available to communities to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Driving progress forward: We carefully plan and manage our community engagement approach to ensure that all opportunities can be captured for the benefit of the community within the project timeframe.
Because every community and project is unique, our outcome targets are specific to each development. Key areas addressed include:
- Keeping communities informed to facilitate meaningful engagement, contributing to community buy-in, ownership, responsibility and integration.
- Using the construction project to inspire, educate, train and employ people, particularly the young and those who have previously been excluded from such opportunities.
- Supporting and enhancing community aims and objectives by working in partnership with local people and community groups.
- Supporting and encouraging local businesses, suppliers and contractors to become part of the development
- Supporting and enhancing the environment by helping to reduce CO2 emissions and waste sent to landfill.
