Considerate Constructors Scheme
Leadbitter fully supports the aims of the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), a national initiative aiming to improve the image of the construction industry. Respect underpins our approach to our colleagues, partners and visitors, as well as the environment and the communities in which we work. We believe that this same value is integral to the aims of the Scheme, which assesses construction sites on eight criteria:
- Consideration
- Environmental Awareness
- Cleanliness
- Being a Good Neighbour
- Respectfulness
- Safety
- Responsibility
- Accountability
Regular visits by CCS monitors to our sites provide us with a structured approach and an independent assessment of our performance in construction, enabling us to share good practice and innovations and address any shortfalls.
Leadbitter has been registering its building sites with CCS since the initiative was founded in 1997 and became an Associate Member of the Scheme in 2008.
Last year 89% of CCS visits to our sites scored over 31 points (the industry average), with an average score of 34.16. In 2011, Leadbitter won a record 14 Gold, Silver and Bronze awards at the national CCS awards, with our Great Somerford site being named a runner-up for the top award of Most Considerate Site.
