Sustainable Responsibility

Leadbitter cares deeply about making a positive impact on the future, and we are committed to operating in a way that combats social and economic issues, as well as respecting and safeguarding the environment. We continually monitor and adapt our activities to ensure that they meet the wide range of building regulations and other national standards for sustainability.

Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM)

BREEAM is the leading environmental assessment method for construction. Our systematic approach meticulously considers each element of the standards, ensuring your sustainable building achieves a Very Good, Excellent or Outstanding rating.

Leadbitter is the first UK contractor to deliver BREEAM Outstanding education buildings in Cornwall and Wales.

Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH)

We are committed to constructing new homes to Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) Level 3 and above. By using renewable materials, energy saving measures and green technologies, generations to come will benefit from reduced running costs, improved well-being and a healthier environment.

Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP)

WRAP helps businesses develop sustainable products and use resources in an efficient way. After becoming one of the first construction contractors to sign up to the voluntary Halving Waste to Landfill scheme, we exceeded our targets by year two and have since set a new target of 95% of waste diverted from landfill, which is being achieved on many of our projects.

Sustainable Development Management System (SDMS)

SDMS, a scheme structure certified by the National Quality Association (NQA), builds upon the requirements of British Standard - BS 8900: 2006 Guidance for managing sustainable development. This provides us with a protocol for assessing your construction project against our sustainable practices.

Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS)

We are proud to be an Associate Member of the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), which measures against a number of standards, such as being clean, respectful and safe, as well as environmentally conscious. Last year 89% of CCS visits to our sites scored over 31 points (the industry average), with an average score of 34.16.
