Client: Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust
This project, partly funded by the Millennium Commission, involved the provision of a new Visitors' Centre to improve the facilities offered by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. The building comprises a foyer and reception areas, exhibition space, discovery learning centres, full restaurant and kitchens, studios, resource and education rooms, offices and administration space, staff accommodation and a 17 metre high observation tower.
This project highlights best practice for environmentally friendly construction. The theme of sustainability has been incorporated throughout the new facilities and the consideration for the local wildlife was essential. The habitat of many different species of wildlife had to be considered in order to ensure their continued and stable environment.
Careful programming and constant communication with the Client and the visitors to the wetlands site enabled the centre to remain fully operational and open to the public at all times. In addition the project was completed on time. This project won a Silver Considerate Constructor Award after being put forward by our Client. |
