The Leadbitter Group is pleased to announce its performance for the financial year from 1st January to 31st December 2008, which shows an increase in turnover to £323 million, up from a turnover for 2007 of £264 million, delivering a pre tax profit of £10.0 million, up from £9.2 million in 2007.
Despite difficult market conditions, the Leadbitter Group is forecasting a similar performance for 2009. The Group is cited as one of the UK’s top 10 contractors in the social housing, education and leisure sectors, and now operates from a network of ten offices throughout Southern, Central and Eastern England, London and the Home Counties, South West and Wales, providing effective regional coverage of more than 50% of the UK.
As a result of this strong performance and its exceptional commitment to community engagement and training, Leadbitter has recently been named as preferred contractor on a cluster of forthcoming projects such as Phase 3 of Oxford Brookes University’s expansion of the Marston Road site, Archbishop McGrath Catholic Comprehensive School and Hartridge High School in South Wales, the Kent Schools PFI, Dunboyne Care Home in Torquay and the Old Town Dock housing scheme in Newport. These projects alone equal over £95 million of new work.
Bob Rendell, Group Chief Executive says, “Whilst the next few years will be extremely challenging for the construction industry, I am confident that our excellent experience across a wide range of sectors, both public and private; our presence on key frameworks and, most importantly, our reputation as a Client focused quality contractor will ensure our continued success. As a market leader in the provision of affordable housing and decent homes programmes, we will continue to expand this significant area of our business, whilst also placing additional focus on our presence in the sectors of leisure, hotels and high quality commercial space.”
